Chanukah Menorah Design Contest 2008

Worldwide Hanukiah (Chanukah Menorah) Design Contest

Jewish-art-and-gifts.com, the website offering the best Jewish gifts for every occasion, has launched a Hanukiah menorah design contest for Jewish children around the world. The goal of the contest is to encourage young Jewish artists to develop their design skills and talents and make Jewish tradition more meaningful to them.

Who can design the most original or beautiful Hanukiah?

Rules:

• The Hanukiah can be made from any material.
• The Hanukiah must be kosher (all candles except for the shamash must be on the same level, and in a straight line).
• The design must be original – not copied from a previous artist’s design.

Featured entries will appear on my website: www.jewish-art-and-gifts.com

Winners will be announced on the website on December 12, 2008 and notified by email.

Eligibility: Anyone between the ages of 8 and 13 can enter. There will be two categories, one for ages 8-10 and the other for 11-13 years.

Guidelines: Please send the following by mail:

1. A jpg image of your Hanukiah (not over 100 kb) – no need to send me the actual Hanukiah..
2. A description of your Hanukiah – size, materials used, theme.
3. Your name, picture (optional) and short biography: name, age, city, anything else you want to add.

Entries must be submitted by December 10, 2008 to:.

Prizes:
First prize for ages 8-10 yrs:
Giant hand-painted wooden dreidel by Israeli Judaica designer Yair Emanuel and a special page on jewish-art-and-gifts.com with a picture of the winning Hanukiah with a biography and pictures of the winner.

First prize for ages 11-13 yrs:
Hand-painted wood accordian Hanukiah by Yair Emanuel and a special page on jewish-art-and-gifts.com with a picture of the winning Hanukiah with a biography and picture of the winner.

Second prize:
Hand-painted wooden dreidel with stand by Yair Emanuel.
