Here are some of our suggestions to make Bat Mitzvah gift shopping easier for you:
- Find out if the Bat Mitzvah girl (or woman) will be lighting Shabbat candles after her Bat Mitzvah. If so, a set of candlesticks would be a great idea.
- If the Bat Mitzvah is reading from the Torah, a colorful yad (Torah pointer) by Emanuel would be very suitable and will encourage her to read again in the future.
- If the young woman is religiously observant, but it is not the custom in her community to read from the Torah, a kiddish cup would still be suitable, as the mitzvah of reciting Kiddush is her responsibility after her Bat Mitzvah. The decorated siddur would also be a suitable choice as a religiously observant woman will use it at least once a day. Any artwork with Hebrew blessings would also be a great choice.
- If the Bat Mitzvah gift is not very traditional, then we suggest buying a Hanukkah menorah which hopefully she WILL use and will proudly display in her room during the rest of the year.
- The Judaica artwork on this page is suitable for all types of young women, but might be most appreciated by someone who speaks Hebrew and is familiar with the prayerbook.
