Elijah's Cup and Miriam's Cup
Every Seder table needs an Elijah's Cup and Miriam's Cup. The tradition of the Elijah's Cup is a very old tradition whereas Miriam's Cup is a new tradition, but one that we welcome. It symbolizes Jewish women and their important role in Yetziat Mitzrayim (the Exodos from Egypt). Whereas Elijah's cup is filled with wine, Miriam's cup should be filled with water.
This symbolizes the miraculous well which followed B'nai Yisrael all through the journey in the dessert as long as Miriam was alive.
