Shabbat Candlesticks
Every Jewish woman is supposed to light candles at sundown on Friday night at the beginning of the Shabbat. The Shabbat candlesticks are a very special item in a Jewish home often prominently dislayed on a decorative shelf or next to a piece of Judaic artwork. Candlesticks make a suitable gift for a Jewish wedding, Bat Mitzvah or housewarming gift. If the home is Jewishly observant chances are they will have many guests over who will also want to light candles, therefore one set just isn’t enough.
There is also a tradition for the Jewish mother to light not just two candles but two candles plus one for each child in the family.
