Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath, is celebrated from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday. It is traditionally observed by abstaining from creative work, praying in the synagogue, eating festive meals, singing, spiritual learning and spending time with friends and family.
In order to elevate the beauty and meaning of Shabbat it is customary to decorate the table with beautiful Judaic objects such as challah boards, festive tablecloths, candlesticks and other decorative items. Many families pass down their candlesticks from generation to generation and traditionally they have been made from silver, but we have chosen more modern designs made from glass and ceramics which add color to the home.
We have also chosen artwork that fits in with the theme of the Sabbath such as the candle lighting prayer called “Yehi Ratzon” which is recited in traditional households after the short “Lehadlik Ner Shel Shabbat” blessing. We are sure that you will find the right gift on our site either for yourself or as a gift for others.
