Information about Jewish wedding customs:
A Jewish wedding is a wedding ceremony that follows Jewish law and traditions.
Jewish weddings like non-Jewish weddings can be vastly different one from the other, however there are certain customs that one might see when attending a Jewish wedding. One is the presentation of a Jewish marriage contract or “ketubah” signed by two witnesses. This can be a simple document or an ornately decorated piece of artwork. Another feature of Jewish weddings is a chuppah or wedding canopy which is what covers the Jewish bride and groom during the ceremony. The chuppah consists of four poles holding up the canopy which can also be a beautiful piece of hand-made artwork. The groom will present the bride with a ring owned by the groom that is given to the bride under the canopy. The ceremony ends with the breaking of a glass which symbolizes the destruction of the ancient Temple in Jerusalem.
